Purpose of Role/Summary:

The Senior Data Engineer focuses on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, managing orchestration with Apache Airflow, and handling data transformations using dbt. It involves optimizing AWS Redshift, ensuring data quality, implementing monitoring systems, and integrating with third-party APIs. The position also promotes best practices in data engineering, version control, CI/CD, and documentation.

Main Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines to extract and consolidate data from diverse internal and external sources
  • Develop and manage pipeline orchestration using Apache Airflow, ensuring proper dependency handling, scheduling, and monitoring
  • Design, implement and maintain dbt models to manage transformation logic where necessary
  • Optimize and manage our AWS Redshift environment to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Implement and enforce data quality standards including validation checks, anomaly detection, and reconciliation processes
  • Establish proactive data monitoring and alerting systems to detect and resolve data issues
  • Design and maintain API-based data integrations with third-party systems.
  • Promote and implement best practices for data engineering, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines
  • Document data ingestion processes and integrations, and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
  • Any other duties that are requested and relevant to the role



Required Skills & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role
  • Proven expertise in AWS Redshift or other cloud-based data platforms
  • Advanced SQL skills for querying and data validation
  • Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, data extraction, and API integrations
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow
  • Working knowledge of dbt
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts
  • Power BI semantic layer knowledge is a strong plus
  • Experience with APIs and system integration
  • Experience with implementation of data observability or governance tools (e.g., Open Metadata) is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities
  • Strong team player with a proactive attitude



Further Info:

  • Working hours are 09:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday
  • The role can be either in Limassol (Cyprus) or Dubai (UAE)
