Job tittle: Senior Data Engineer - HIPAA Compliant Reporting
Requirements
Must-Have Technical Skills:
7+ years of data engineering experience in production environments
AWS expertise: QuickSight, RDS (PostgreSQL), S3, Lambda, Glue, IAM
HIPAA compliance experience with PHI/PII handling and healthcare data
Data pipeline development: ETL/ELT design, orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions)
SQL mastery: Complex queries, optimization, stored procedures
Python for data processing and automation
DevOps practices: CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), containerization
Experience Requirements:
Proven track record building secure, compliant data infrastructure
Experience migrating analytics platforms while maintaining business continuity
Database performance tuning and optimization
Data anonymization and masking techniques
Soft Skills:
Strong communication skills and client presentation experience
Ability to work independently in a distributed team environment
Excellent documentation practices
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Vector databases: Weaviate or similar (Pinecone, Milvus)
Business intelligence: Tableau or similar BI platforms
Data modeling: Dimensional modeling, data vault
Healthcare domain knowledge: Understanding of healthcare workflows and terminology
Team lead experience: Mentoring junior engineers, architectural decision-making
Additional AWS services: Athena, Redshift, EMR, EventBridge
Monitoring & observability: CloudWatch, Datadog, etc
