A key player in the European energy sector is seeking a Senior Azure Data Platform Engineer to build and maintain the cloud-native data platform that powers the green energy transition.

About Our Client

Our client is a critical European energy operator at the forefront of the continent's energy transition. Their mission is to connect vast offshore wind farms in the North Sea to the mainland, guaranteeing a reliable supply of green energy for millions. You will join the central Digital & Data organization, working within a DevOps team on their modern, cloud-based data platform, which is foundational to all data initiatives across the company.

Your Core Tech Stack & Experience

This role requires a deep and practical command of modern cloud and data technologies. We are looking for:

  • MUST-HAVES: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, specifically with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks.

  • Cloud & IaC: Proven experience provisioning and managing infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Bicep.

  • Data & Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL. Deep expertise in Databricks development (Delta Lake, structured streaming, optimization) and knowledge of Big Data tech like Apache Spark.

  • DevOps & CI/CD: Extensive experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

  • APIs & Integration: Familiarity with building and integrating RESTful APIs for seamless data exchange.

Your Mission: Engineering a Data-Driven Future

As a Senior Azure Data Platform Engineer, you won't just be managing infrastructure; you'll be engineering the foundation for data-driven decision-making that accelerates the transition to sustainable energy. Your responsibilities include:

  • Design & Implement: Architect and develop scalable, production-grade data pipelines and distributed data processing solutions on Azure.

  • Automate & Orchestrate: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to fully automate the deployment and testing of data engineering workflows.

  • Ensure Reliability & Performance: Take ownership of the performance, fault tolerance, observability (logging/monitoring), and reliability of the data platform.

  • Collaborate & Innovate: Actively participate in knowledge sharing, design discussions, and technical reviews to continuously improve solutions and team practices.

Your Profile

Beyond your technical prowess, you are a proactive team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or have equivalent practical experience) and possess excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is not required).

  • Role: Senior Azure Data Platform Engineer

  • Location: Arnhem area, Netherlands (Hybrid work, with 2 days in the office, including a fixed team day on Thursday).

  • Contract Type: Interim assignment.

  • Start Date: As soon as possible.

  • Interview Process: The selection consists of one online panel interview via MS Teams. A Pre-Employment Screening is part of the procedure.
