Lead / Principal Data Engineer
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead or Principal Data Engineer to join and shape the future of our data platform at StarzPlay. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, has a strong data engineering background, and excels at delivering scalable, production-ready data solutions.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect, build, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines and workflows using modern data engineering tools and best practices.
- Own the design and evolution of scalable data models and schemas, particularly in Amazon Redshift and data lake environments.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of our data infrastructure.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Collaborate closely with analytics, data science, product, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, trusted data.
- Champion data quality, security, governance, and monitoring across all layers of the stack.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies that can help scale our platform and improve developer productivity.

- ETL: Talend , dbt,
- Orchestration: Airflow, Dagster
- Visualization: Tableau, Looker (a plus)
- DevOps: Git, CI/CD, Terraform (a plus)
✅ What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering with at least 2+ years in a lead role
- Deep hands-on expertise in building cloud-native data pipelines (AWS preferred)
- Proven experience with batch + streaming data solutions, CDC, and event-driven architectures
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data lakes, and modern data platforms
- Expert-level SQL and proficiency in Python / PySpark
- Track record of leading end-to-end data initiatives from design to production
- Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
