The Opportunity 

As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in constructing a scalable and resilient data solution within our newly developed Data & Analytics platform. Your responsibilities involve leveraging your technical expertise to facilitate and construct solutions for deployment across numerous clients. Engaging in projects for diverse customers, you will tackle intricate challenges that demand a multifaceted skill set. Your role requires comprehensive comprehension of the entire spectrum, allowing you to design end-to-end solutions with a keen focus on meeting user and business requirements. Operating in the realm of B2B software and services, you will contribute to providing essential services to large-scale clients across the UK, NZ, Australia, and globally, aligning with our commitment to delivering and supporting cutting-edge technology. 

 

The Specifics   

  • Create integration processes for data ingestion into Snowflake using Snowpipe, AWS SQS/SNS, and Snowflake events. 
  • Design, build, and maintain Snowflake architecture, overseeing security, access control mechanisms, and data encryption. 
  • Configure, set up, and administer AWS, including creating S3 buckets, IAM Roles, permissions, and policies. 
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes for data model construction using SQL, Java script, and relevant ELT tools. 
  • Lead capacity planning, scaling, backup, disaster recovery, and maintain documentation and knowledge sharing. 
  • Adhere to the Compliance Policies and Procedures. 
  • Ensure Health & Safety by reporting incidents and hazards promptly. 
  • Fulfill any additional duties reasonably requested by your direct line leader. 

 

What we're looking for (you don’t need to be a guru at all,
we’re looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you):
 

  • Solid 5+ years Data Engineering experience. 
  • Proficiency in data warehousing concepts, including data modeling, schema design, data loading, and data querying. 
  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehousing platforms (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Firebolt, Databricks, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with ELT/ETL tools such as Matillion, Informatica, or Talend. 
  • Strong command of complex ANSI SQL queries. 
  • AWS expertise in S3 setup, data storage, integration, data transfer, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting. 
  • Optional proficiency in Python programming and JavaScript for ETL and procedures. 
  • Customer-facing skills with the ability to participate in demos and workshops. 
  • Quick learner, team player, independent, and motivated individual. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Data Management or equivalent. 
  • Can-do attitude. 
  • Optimistic outlook with common sense and a sense of humor.
