Data Engineer

We are searching for a Data Developer to join our growing team.

Successful candidates will have all of the following attributes…

• Proactive, motivated, and able to manage their workload independently Have good experience of data transformation and Integrations.
• Database Design - Designing and creating efficient database structures that are scalable, flexible, and easily maintainable. Performance Tuning – Identifying and analysing performance bottlenecks and tuning SQL queries for optimal performance. Principally using SQL server.
• Confident providing advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required.
• Highly competent with database technologies
• Competent in code management and version control systems (e.g. GIT)
• An excellent communicator – able to articulate technical issues to non-technical people, and discuss requirements and issues with customers
• Strong experience of Microsoft Azure BI technologies (e.g. Data Factory, Event Hub, Data Lake Storage, Data Lake Analytics, Function Apps, Integration Runtime, etc.) is desirable.
• Have some experience of delivery, preferably using agile methodologies and a solid understanding of testing and validation.

Person Specification:

• Strong experience of SQL Server is essential

• Experience/knowledge of any other database technologies would be desirable e.g. Oracle, MySQL &

NoSQL

• Experience/knowledge of Microsoft SSIS / SSAS / Power BI would be desirable

• Applied experience of good quality development processes including code review, unit testing, coding

standards, appropriate documentation

• Knowledge of multiple formal development methodologies along with a good understanding of the IT

industry and the implications of new technologies and processes for the wider business environment.

• Will have superb communication skills and will understand, explain and present complex technical ideas

to both technical and non-technical audiences in a persuasive and convincing manner

• Able to build strong strategic relationships with internal and external partners (business and technical)

demonstrating an expert opinion of our business aims and issues
