Job Family Definition:

This role researches, designs, develops, configures, and maintains data engineering solutions that integrate technical and business requirements for process mining and analytical use cases. The Data Engineer works closely with IT, business analysts, and process engineers to deliver curated, validated datasets that support operational insights and process optimization.

The role spans data ingestion, transformation, modelling, and automated data delivery. It requires strong technical expertise, disciplined development practices, and the ability to translate business requirements into sustainable data architecture. The engineer participates in architecture reviews, ensures compliance with enterprise standards, and integrates both internally developed and third-party tools to meet business needs.

Contributes technical expertise with visible impact on major process mining projects and enterprise data architecture. Applies in-depth knowledge to build scalable solutions, improve data quality, and reduce end-to-end latency. Provides technical leadership for large initiatives, mentors others, and influences data engineering and integration best practices across the organization.

What you’ll do:

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines delivering clean, reliable, and timely data to process mining tools (e.g., Celonis).
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable data models, event logs, and transformation logic optimized for process analytics.
• Integrate data from multiple systems (ERP, CRM, CPQ, billing, supply chain) into unified process mining datasets.
• Ensure data quality, completeness, lineage, and governance across multiple data sources and environments.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Process Engineers, and IT teams to validate data, resolve gaps, and align on process definitions.
• Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reusability across multiple business units.
• Develop testing frameworks, data validation scripts, and monitoring solutions to detect and resolve data issues proactively.
• Contribute to data architecture reviews and champion best practices for security, performance, and maintainability.
• Support automation solutions and action flows by enabling real-time or near–real-time data availability.

• Build and harmonize data pipelines that integrate customer, quote-to-order, and order-to-cash datasets from both HPE Networking and Juniper for process mining, ensuring accuracy and consistency during system and process integration.
• Identify data alignment gaps, schema differences, and process variations across the two organizations: design scalable solutions to support combined revenue-critical reporting and analytics.

What you need to bring:

Education and Experience Required:

• Typically a First Level University degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science or related technical/communications field and a minimum of 8+ years related experience or an Advanced University degree and a minimum of 6 years experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of tools and technologies relevant throughout the division or across divisions.
• 10–12 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or related roles.
• Experience supporting analytics, business insights, or process mining environments preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Expert-level Python and SQL.
• Strong ETL/ELT development experience (Informatica, DataStage, Azure Data Factory, or similar).
• Experience with version control (Git/TFS) and development best practices.
• Strong background in relational databases, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with Power BI, Qlik, or similar visualization tools.
• Understanding of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Kafka, Hive, Spark.
• Experience with Dataiku or similar data preparation tools is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert complex technical challenges into scalable, maintainable solutions.
