Role: Senior Data Engineer - Databricks
Experience Level: 5+ Years

What you’ll do:
You will be working as a Senior Data Engineer within the Healthcare & Lifesciences domain, helping business and R&D teams leverage technology, AI, and advanced analytics to boost performance and foster innovation.
This mission supports strategic priorities through the delivery of R&D Data projects at scale, on a unified, compliant, and modern data platform centered on Databricks.
Role & Responsibilities:
Design and implement data ingestion pipelines connecting diverse sources (CDD Vault, APIs, databases, cloud data lakes).
Integrate, clean, and harmonize data to align with internal data models and standards.
Build scalable pipelines for NGS data processing in Databricks, implementing variant calling workflows with GATK and related bioinformatics tools.
Optimize compute and storage strategies (SQL/NoSQL, cloud storage) for performance and cost efficiency.
Expose curated datasets via APIs, datamarts, and SQL endpoints for downstream analytics, dashboards, and scientific applications.
Ensure high standards of data quality, traceability, reproducibility, and compliance with industry regulations.
Collaborate closely with R&D scientists, bioinformaticians, and data teams to document workflows and enable transparent, reproducible pipelines.
Skills expectation:
Must have:
Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Engineering, or related field.
5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering (R&D or healthcare/pharma sector highly valued).
Proven expertise in building production-grade pipelines in Databricks.
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Proficiency with AWS and Azure cloud services.
Team player with an Agile mindset and clear, transparent communication.
Ability to thrive in dynamic, changing environments.
Leadership qualities
Ability to lead technology teams and provide them mentorship / support to accelerate performance.
Experience in leading multiple large projects as well as a deep understanding of Agile developments
Effective communication with all the stakeholders involved.
Communicate clearly about complex subjects and technical plans with technical and non technical audiences.
Good to have:
Experience with bioinformatics workflows (GATK, Nextflow, Snakemake).
Prior exposure to CDD Vault and chemical/biological data integration.
Knowledge of FAIR data principles.
Previous experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or biotech projects.
Proficiency in both French and English.
