The Senior Engineer supports the design, development, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure systems and platforms. This role leads complex projects, develops scalable technical solutions, and integrates emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and performance. The Senior Engineer collaborates with internal teams and vendors to design high-availability environments, maintain detailed documentation, and ensure compliance with technical standards. The role serves as a subject matter expert and contributes to enterprise strategy through deep technical insight, mentoring of junior staff, and alignment with infrastructure roadmaps and best practices.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements scalable engineering solutions for enterprise infrastructure, with a focus on performance, availability, and long-term sustainability.
- Designs technical architecture and system configurations, including detailed analysis of IOPS, application performance, and future growth requirements.
- Leads the preparation of in-depth engineering design documentation to support infrastructure initiatives, incorporating industry best practices and vendor standards.
- Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives and architectural roadmaps.
- Coordinates and facilitates design reviews, technical presentations, and documentation walkthroughs to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
- Supports performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for systems including SAN, VMware, Windows, and Linux-based environments.
- Participates in capacity planning, data replication strategy development, and platform lifecycle management.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation for all engineered solutions and supported platforms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required
- 8-10 years of experience with logical architecture design and business data flows required
- 7-9 years of experience analyzing application behavior and designing infrastructure solutions to meet performance and capacity requirements required
- 7-9 years of experience with storage replication and snapshotting technologies (e.g., EMC SRDF/A, TimeFinder) required
- 4-6 years of experience in enterprise storage environments exceeding 1PB, including LUN provisioning, performance analysis, and capacity planning required
- Experience with Cisco Nexus infrastructure, VMware, Windows, IBM AIX, Linux, and SAN environments preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of SAN environments, including Cisco MDS 9500-series and NPIV-based virtualization.
- Proficiency with performance tuning, capacity planning, and storage architecture technologies (e.g., EMC VMAX, VNX, IBM SVC).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience delivering technical presentations and documentation.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate with executives, technical teams, and vendors.
Licenses and Certifications
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Cisco, EMC, VMware, IBM) preferred
