Job Title: Principal Data Engineer (Analytics, Integration & MLOps)
Location: Hyderabad, India
We’re looking for a Principal Data Engineer to design, build, and evolve the Azure‑based data platform that powers the Advanced Synthesis (ADS) digital ecosystem. In this senior, hands‑on leadership role, you’ll set technical direction, define architectural standards, and deliver robust, compliant, and scalable data solutions that connect scientific, analytical, and operational data. You will partner closely with scientists, IT, and data science teams to operationalize analytics and ML, ensuring data is reliable, reusable, and ready for advanced modeling.
What you will get:
- Impact at scale: Shape the digital backbone for ADS by defining and evolving enterprise‑grade, cloud‑native data platforms that accelerate innovation and decision‑making.
- Technical ownership: Lead architecture and standards (Azure ADF, ADLS, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Azure ML) to ensure quality, consistency, and performance across solutions.
- Best‑practice environment: Work with modern DevOps (Azure DevOps, Git), CI/CD, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code to enable reliable, automated delivery.
- Cross‑functional collaboration: Partner with scientists, IT partners, and data science teams to align on technical strategy and solution design that are fit for purpose and compliant.
What you will do:
- Own the Azure data platform architecture: Define scalable, secure, and performant designs leveraging ADLS, ADF, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and associated patterns.
- Deliver end‑to‑end integration pipelines: Design and oversee complex, enterprise‑scale integrations across ELN, LIMS, MES, ERP and external systems using iPaaS (e.g., SnapLogic) and APIs.
- Operationalize machine learning (MLOps): Deploy and maintain ML models in production with Azure ML, implementing automation, monitoring, and retraining workflows.
- Industrialize data engineering: Build robust, reusable pipelines in Python/SQL; establish orchestration, data ingestion patterns, and API designs for data products.
- Implement DevOps & IaC: Champion CI/CD, Git‑based workflows, and ARM/Bicep/Terraform for repeatable, compliant, and auditable deployments.
- Govern data with rigor: Enforce data quality, metadata, lineage, and align platforms with FAIR principles and ALCOA+ / GxP standards where applicable.
- Lead & mentor: Provide technical leadership, coaching, and best‑practice guidance to engineers, elevating engineering standards and delivery excellence.
What we are looking for:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; 7+ years in data engineering/architecture/platform engineering.
- Cloud‑native track record: Proven experience designing, delivering, and operating enterprise‑scale Azure data platforms; regulated industry exposure (life sciences, chemicals, manufacturing, healthcare) is a plus.
- Azure & data engineering depth: Hands‑on with ADF, ADLS, Synapse, Azure ML, Microsoft Fabric; advanced Python & SQL; orchestration frameworks, API design, and ingestion patterns.
- DevOps & integration: CI/CD, Git, IaC (ARM/Bicep/Terraform); familiarity with iPaaS (e.g., SnapLogic or equivalent) for large‑scale data integrations.
- Analytics enablement: Experience enabling consumption via Power BI or similar BI tools; building reusable data products and APIs.
- Governance & compliance: Strong grounding in data quality, metadata, lineage; implementation aligned to FAIR, ALCOA+, and GxP where required.
- Leadership & collaboration: Demonstrated team leadership/mentorship; effective communicator across business, scientific, and IT stakeholders; comfortable in global, cross‑functional setting
