Centro Benefits Research is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to help drive the evolution and adoption of our modern data stack. This role is ideal for someone with a versatile skillset who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, systems integration and analytics, with a passion for building scalable, reliable, and well-documented data models that empower business stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in shaping our data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. As a senior member of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust solutions. You’ll also help define best practices, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data platform.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable and well-tested dbt models to support analytics and reporting needs.
Own delivery of features related to in-application reporting.
Own and optimize data workflows using modern data pipeline orchestration tools.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-impact solutions.
Ensure data quality, lineage, and documentation across the data pipeline.
Apply rigor to data models through testing.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
Core Competency Requirements
5+ years of professional analytics or data engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior level role.
Deep expertise in SQL and at least one scripting language such as Python.
Proven experience designing and building ELT workflows using dbt.
Strong understanding of cloud-based data warehouse technologies, such as Snowflake or Redshift.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Proficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL.
Familiarity with testing strategies and frameworks for dbt and Python.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Competency Nice to Haves
Experience working in the insurance industry.
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience with monitoring and observability tooling, such as DataDog.
Education, Training and Experience:
5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, with a strong track record of technical leadership and delivering scalable data solutions.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex dbt models that solve real-world business problems.
Proven experience working in Agile software development environments, with a deep understanding of iterative development and continuous improvement practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $200,000 to $210,000 per year.
Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance. We also offer eligible employees health, wellbeing, retirement, and other financial benefits, paid time off, overtime pay for non-exempt employees, and robust learning and development programs.
