Data Engineer - contract

This role is for Weekday's client.

Please note this is a contract position, with possible extension based on project needs.

Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our network and collaborate with cutting-edge startups. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing data workflows to support business intelligence and analytics needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines.
• Optimize data architectures for reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to integrate data solutions.
• Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing monitoring and validation processes.
• Work with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, data warehouses).
• Develop and maintain documentation for data workflows and processes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Scala for data processing.
• Experience with data pipeline tools such as Apache Airflow, Kafka, or dbt.
• Knowledge of cloud-based data solutions (AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, etc.).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and database optimization.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a startup or consulting environment.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to machine learning pipelines and data science workflows.
• Understanding of data privacy and security best practices.
