About the Role
Sunbytes is actively seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to work remotely with our Australian client in a distributed engineering team across Southeast Asia. You will have a chance to join an Australian SaaS company that specializes in sales funnel plug-in and optimization platform.
As a Data Engineer, you will join their team of multinational engineers and collaborate directly with Australian tech leads. You will help them to build and optimize high-throughput analytics pipelines on ClickHouse. We expect you to have autonomy in technical choices, close collaboration with the product and analytics team, and a culture that values technical excellence.
Responsibilities
Model and tune ClickHouse tables for sub-second analytical queries
Build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT workflows in ClickHouse
Implement data-quality checks and observability
Work with the analytics team to surface metrics in Looker Studio, Tableau, Domo, and custom client-facing dashboards
Profile and optimise query and ingestion performance
5+ years building data pipelines or analytics platforms
Deep expertise in ClickHouse schema design and performance tuning
Strong SQL (window functions, CTEs, query optimisation)
Proven track record writing and maintaining ETL/ELT jobs
Solid Git workflow knowledge (feature branches, PRs, code reviews)
Nice to Have
Production Go or TypeScript experience
LLM/RAG/MCP pipeline exposure
Hands-on with Looker Studio, Tableau, or Domo
Familiarity with Jupyter Notebook or similar tools
Familiarity with Redis, Postgres, SQLite
Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager events
Data-cache and real-time stream design
Soft skills
Strong proficiency in English
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
Experience working in agile teams and remote environments
