Data Engineer (Azure Synapse)

This is a remote position.

We are supporting a new project in Germany and looking for two experienced Data Engineers to join on a freelance B2B basis. The focus will be on building and optimizing data solutions using Azure Synapse within a modern cloud environment.

Role Details

• Positions:
  

  • Option 1: 2x Consultant-level profiles
    

  • Option 2: 1x Consultant + 1x Senior Consultant
    

• Start Date: End of September 2025
  

• Duration: Until end of December 2025 (with potential extension)
  

• Location: Remote within the EU (occasional travel may be requested)
  

• Engagement Type: B2B contract
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data warehouses using Azure Synapse.
  

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements and deliver robust data solutions.
  

• Ensure data quality, governance, and security best practices.
  

• Optimize data storage, query performance, and cost efficiency within Azure.
  

• Support knowledge transfer and documentation for long-term maintainability.
  

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
  
• Solid knowledge of SQL and data modeling techniques.
  
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and large-scale data integration.
  
• Proficiency with other Azure services (e.g., Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake) is a plus.
  
• Consultant: ~3+ years of relevant experience.
  
• Senior Consultant: ~6+ years of relevant experience.
  
• Strong communication skills in English (German is an advantage).
  
• Eligibility to work as a freelancer within the EU.
