Kard is the leading mobile bank for teens in France, on a mission to improve the financial future of the next generations.

The importance of financial literacy is underestimated. In fact, people become victims of not forming healthy financial habits, and can struggle for life: 60% of French people get in overdraft at least once a year, and 25% every month. 80% believe they have an insufficient level of knowledge about financial matters.

Schools don't teach kids about money, families very rarely talk about it, and traditional banks never really cared about teens and offer them the same products they offer to everyone else.

Kard aims to remedy the problem by enabling kids to start their financial journey, learn about money, spending and saving at an earlier age, while having the means to do the things they want with ease and flexibility.

Launched in 2018 by Amine Bounjou and Scott Gordon, Kard is today the market leader for teens' banking in France with more than 120K users. But we're only getting started as it is a completely underserved market: only 10% of teens have a bank account while 90% of them have a smartphone!

Our opportunity is to build the bank of the future generations and serve millions of families around the world, and we have raised over 10M€ so far to deliver our ambition.

💜 What you’ll be doing 💜

At Kard, data is at the heart of our business as it enables us to: 

• Deliver incremental gains in the product and and the app so customers enjoy it more and more
• Optimize customer acquisition strategy and business decision making
• Improve operations such as customer service, fraud detection or card delivery

We acquire data from many different sources (production databases, APIs, marketing platforms, product analytics platforms) and we've just reshuffled our data stack to centralize and model our data, using Fivetran as ETL and Google BigQuery as data warehouse.

As a Data Engineer, your missions will be:

• Stack: build, enhance and maintain the data engineering stack (pipelines / features)
• Data acquisition: connect to new data sources, maintain and scale existing pipelines
• Modelling: team up with Data Analysts and Business Heads to build and maintain data marts
• Team support: train your colleagues on the tooling and features you developed for them
• Management: contribute to the recruitment and mentoring of Data Engineers

💜 Who you are 💜

• You have 4+ years experience as Data Engineer
• You master a programming language (e.g. Python)
• You participated in the construction and supervision of production architectures
• You have a strong experience in scalability, reliability, and security and also strong analytical skills, so you are able to work with unstructured datasets
• You are result-oriented and focus on the value created by your developments
• You have strong organisational skills and are able to work under tight deadlines and with shifting priorities
• You're able to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both orally and written, and can interact easily with other teams and business heads
• You speak both French and English fluently

If your application is retained, you will be going through the following process:

• Intro call: a first video-call / interview with Amine, co-founder & COO, to better understand your career plan, create a strong alignment on what we'll expect from you, tell you more about they way we operate and answer any of your questions (45 mins)
• Case: a fully remote exercise to evaluate your hard skills, followed by a video-call debriefing (2 hours)
• Meet the team: an interview with future team members to discover Kard across all its business lines (2 hours)
  
• Final interview: a final discussion with one of our founders (30 mins)
