What You Will Help Us With: 

Empowering Teams with Data Insights:

As a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in empowering our internal teams and clients to extract actionable insights from complex, large-scale datasets. Your expertise in building robust data pipelines will enable the efficient processing of multi-terabyte datasets, particularly within the geospatial and remote sensing domains. By ensuring data is accessible and organised, you will facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

Driving Technical Leadership and Innovation:

You will take on a leadership role by guiding cross-functional teams in designing and implementing core data pipelines and systems. These pipelines will serve as the backbone for our data-driven initiatives, providing the infrastructure necessary to support large-scale data analysis efforts. Your innovative approach will help shape the future of our data architecture and ensure that our processes are scalable and efficient.

Mentorship in Best Practices:

In addition to your technical contributions, you will mentor teammates on best practices in data management, analysis, and pipeline design. By advocating for efficient and effective data processing methods, you will help ensure that our organisation consistently meets high standards of performance and accuracy. Your guidance will foster a culture of excellence in data engineering practices.

Hands-On Data Contributions:

You will actively contribute to the development and optimization of the systems and tools that drive our data analytics. By coding and enhancing our data pipelines, you will ensure that our engineering and analysis efforts yield high-quality insights. Your work will focus on optimising workflows and improving data accessibility, playing a crucial role in driving efficiency and performance across our large-scale geospatial and remote sensing datasets.


In this role, you will be at the forefront of our data engineering efforts, making a significant impact on how we leverage data to achieve our organisational goals.



Requirements

Experience & Skills We’re Looking For:

- Implements complete data architectures, including appropriate data schemas, as well as additional components appropriate to the database design for consuming data from varied data sources.
- Designs and implements automated data flows for extraction, transformation and load.
- Optimises data aggregations while staying compliant to data privacy policies
- Authors robust technical documentation, data schema and real time data telemetry specs.
- Builds and maintains moderately complex data visualisations.
- Communicates and coordinates with external and internal teams.
- May be responsible for developing requirements and drafting high level design documents and selling designs to key stakeholders.


Requirements:
- 4+ years’ work-related experience required in data engineering, analysis and business intelligence.
- Must have experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Must have experience with building moderately complex data visualisations on real data.
- Experience with Azure Cloud and any data flow automation is a plus.
- Must have experience with physical implementation of moderately complex logical database designs and relational database concepts.
- Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required.

- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
- AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate
- IBM Certified Data Engineer
