Primary purpose of the role

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and cloud-native data pipelines in AWS to power data-driven decision-making across the organisation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, quality, and integrity of data at scale. Contribute to the continuous improvement of data infrastructure and best practices in a hybrid work environment, supporting innovation and operational excellence.


Key responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable and efficient data pipelines using AWS-native services
  • Implement robust data ingestion, transformation, and delivery workflows
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across various systems
  • Collaborate with solution architects, software engineers, and data analysts
  • Leverage services such as AWS Glue, Lambda, S3, Athena, Redshift, IAM, CloudWatch, and Step Functions
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and infrastructure improvement initiatives
  • Maintain clear documentation of data workflows, pipelines, and standards
  • Follow cloud security best practices and contribute to a compliant data environment

Key relationships and good knowledge

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with strong hands-on knowledge of AWS
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL in a data engineering context
  • Solid experience with AWS services: Glue, Lambda, S3, Redshift, Athena, IAM, CloudWatch, Step Functions
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines, handling structured and unstructured data
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and governance practices
  • Knowledge of cloud security and access control best practices
  • Comfortable working in collaborative, agile, cross-functional teams
  • Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written

Nice to have

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Solutions Architect)
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Background in financial services or other regulated industries

Work setup

Hybrid: 4 days/week onsite during the first 3 months, then 3 days/week onsite.
